It's JINKS Time

it's JINKS time again..
when i had my first interaction with "seniors" back in first year ragging days, not much unlike the first words you say in years of a new-born, I heard JINKS-loud and clear and fascinating.. well, it's been six years and JINKS rolls on.. now it's the our fuchas who are organising it this time. got a call for a no-longer-fucha today and i couldn't help remembering the 'summer of 69'.
From arranging chairs and making human chains, being the not-so neutral witness to the first ever mini-riot right during one of our dance performances, watching the crowd cheer my dhodi-clad and panicked friend as he performed his histrionics in the name of classical dancing-that too in middle of a hitherto western number. ( we got awarded incidentally -my friend getting his pics splashed prominently all the newspapers being icing on the cake). In my first JINKS i saw the then-final yr senior getting hurt, blood oozing out of his face, and of course the mayhem that followed, all amid the performances rolling on..We have this rare spirit of showing guts to face up anything and move on-it's not only the Raj Kapoor who says show must go on.-we did that too. and enjoyed it like anything for that matter..
In the first year i somehow managed to get 6-7 podium finishes in three days, creating a sort of NIFFT record, I think equaled by one of the most lovable person i have met on campus, or indeed anywhere so far-Mithun Mridha Sir of 05 batch.
Well that's JINKS 04 for you.. many more memories come flooding-the cliched-but-apt flooding down.. maybe for some other time..
to close I'd say now-as ever, our bacchas need us for usual reasons, and atleast i won't mind them for the little mosture hard to find anywhere else..
for years that was home, or more than home for many.. and JINKS the biggest celebration for us.
It's JINKS again friends-- so i guess all that we must to is, to have-boisterous, mischievious fun wherever we are
Adios

Jab we met in mumbai...

good ol' musketeers met in good ol' arcade . well! not all of 'em so old' others not so good , but nevertheless...
Ready for another challenge, ready to save another queen, ready to find " leg pieces"..Sports' bar, phoenix mills stood witness to antics of us gladiators. on 30 Dec night( but weren't these musketeers a moment ago? mitr that was also few tipples ago..) ..
Nacheez was with our 2k7 gang - prashant, KK n vibhanshu;and of course the organizers, robin & rachit sir (2k6). We also had benign presence of ओम sir (2k5) and malignant one of Prashant sir from dino batch i presume;.on the available evidence that is... we we also had (UN) godly presence of Mr Jai ( or Jay Or simply J, that's how we know him up here..) who was at his usual best..
The night had blessings from so many NIFFTIANs who could only come in their ghostly form.
A silent prayer for all those souls in distress..let peace descend upon them hereafter.
.. k signing off, will be back with more, take care everyone..

and they walked away in the sunset...

47 bright men came to the center stage to enact a a play that lasted for four years, ( without much of an audience). they braved heat & dust and cold pain to become someone that they newer knew existed inside their hearts & minds..( actually no one knew, that is to say it was a common knowledge)..
after a hard day in field, moistened by some showers that showed up occasionally, and hardened like steel by the heat, they walk in the sunset as the world around looks on.
and the day comes not without animation, not without it's own highs and lows, its own joy and tribulations, for they are the actors on a stage, and only a farce can end without animation..
Not many understand this, for they have many more years to complete before they the truth dawns, the understanding descends upon them, before they know the world to be a stage..
after this poetic introduction, quite befitting the play, i take a bow before the audience, and await their judgment..for introductions are what make things roll, else the life is much too predictable to engage any interest...
adios! we will meet again, in a new day, under a new sun, with a new play to enact, a new farce to witness..

In between the exams

"Kaisa Hua?" is the most probable question that we use to interchange after writing the papers. The answer use to be even more typed with something like 'good' 'alright' or 'just okey'. Now, in final yr. after writing so many of them such conversations seem mere formality. The indifference is not only with the performance but the eagerness for results too have vanished over time. One of my friend says "Exams to hamesha achchhe hote hain, results hi kharab ho jata hai".
My personal experience suggests that results remain the same if not bad over the years. In first yr. I use to prepare weeks ahead of exams, in second yr. time shrinked to a few days, one day in advance in 3rd yr. and almost JIT in final yr, but results are consistent throughout, zeroing near 7.5. Anyway, that does not matter anymore.
I remember kind of relief and joy we felt after board exams in 10th, 12th and after competitive exams. The papers have become more tedious, degrees more higher but finishing off exams doesn't seem that type of ectasy now. Yes, the bigger wait is for vacations and that's why the end of semester is still pleasant
